Ideally, this is a community solution to the expensive problem of going out of town, or even just the temporary pain of needing someone to let your dog out one Saturday afternoon.

  • Fill out the form above for “I Need a Sitter.” When you do, I’ll add the info to the calendar and send out an email to all potential sitters.

    Hopefully a sitter will reach out to you!

  • I’ll send out an email to all willing sitters as needs come in. I’ll also keep the calendar up above updated. You should be able to integrate that calendar with your Google calendar.

    As you see needs come in, if you are free and willing, reach out! I’ll include contact information in the communication.

  • Absolutely not. All you need is a willing heart!

  • I don’t think necessarily, no. You may need to tag team according to availability. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a few people helping out with one pet, especially if their owner is gonna be gone for a while. It takes a village!

  • You and the pet owner can work this out, but there are options! You could do it Rover-style, where the sitter also apartment sits.

    You could do it like a series of drop-ins, where the sitter goes over a few times a day to take them out, feed and play, etc.

    You could do it sleepover style, where the pet comes and just stays with you for a bit.

    Really, I think that it’s up to you.

  • Of course not. Not everyone has the latitude, and that’s real.

    But remember that being on the sitter list is not you automatically volunteering. It just adds you to the pool of potential sitters.

    It will still fall on the sitter to reach out.

  • In case of emergency, take the animal to an emergency vet. Idk how to codify this or anything, but if your pet is taken to an ER, it’s on you and the sitter to coordinate cost reimbursement.

  • I made this a member site so that there’s at least SOME barrier to entry (in this case, an email address and an extra step). Obviously there’s no way to truly, truly ensure 100% safety, and we don’t have any of the legal protections you’d get at a boarding facility. But I think that, at the core, neighbors look out for each other. We’re trusting in that a little bit.

    That said, I always recommend something like a Ring camera, a spare key lockbox, etc.
